A woman has shared her method for making a cup of tea, but people have been left furious at the technique, saying that they just didn’t understand how it was possible

Nothing beats a proper cuppa, especially on a cold winter’s day, and there’s said to be a method you should use to make the perfect brew. Whether you’re feeling down, celebrating or simply need a bit of warmth, a decent brew never fails to hit the spot, but one woman’s tea-making technique has left people absolutely livid, with many scratching their heads over how she could possibly get it so wrong.

How do you fancy your cuppa then? Just a dash of milk? Perhaps you prefer it black because you like the strength? Or maybe you’re partial to a milkier brew than you’d openly confess to? We all know that different brewing methods can wind people up, but this particular woman’s approach seemed to universally “annoy” when it came to the beloved Yorkshire Tea.

Over on Reddit’s “Rate My Tea” forum, someone revealed their technique: “Yorkshire Tea – 3 bags, 20oz cup,” alongside a snap of their mug.

Yet, despite chucking in three teabags, the resulting brew looked surprisingly weak, leaving fellow tea enthusiasts completely stumped.

One person commented: “Why you need three bags to achieve that colour is a mystery, and it’s annoyed me. Anyway, enjoy”.

The original poster hit back, defending her method: “It’s over half a litre of tea in the mug – how many tea bags would you use?” A fellow Redditor fired back: “One teabag is good enough for around 200-300ml unless you like weak tea”.

The disgruntled commenter continued their rant: “Ok then two maybe, (and don’t try and tell me the original poster needed more than two bags to achieve that colour because I’m not buying it) but really once you need more than one bag get a f****** tea pot”.

The original poster then revealed her preference for a “very malty brew with sweetener and milk,” sparking a fresh debate in another part of the thread about whether or not to press the tea bag against the mug’s side.

One user chimed in with: “3-5 mins is optimal brewing time. So 3 bags for 1 minute = 1 bag for 3 mins. Big cup = 1 bag for 5-6 mins or maybe dunk it a few times for some extra help”.

Another countered: “Nah, it’s not the same. You get waaay more tannins the longer you brew. 3-5 is for a whole pot anyway. I do around a min in a mug, and yes I squeeze the bags against the side of the mug”.

They argued that this method added “depth” before pouring in the milk. A worried commenter asked: “Are you able to finish all that while it’s still hot?” given the size of the mug.

“Why are you using three teabags?” another queried, to which the original poster cheekily retorted: “Because it’s not WW2 and we don’t need to ration tea, lol”.

Despite the controversy, many were full of praise for the hefty brew, rating it a “10/10 brew,” with one fan declaring it was “perfect, no notes”.

So, what’s your verdict on this mammoth cuppa? Would you give it a go? Let us know in the comments…
