Fay Louise was walking around a wildlife park in Yorkshire when a little bird came up to her and decided to do something adorable and completely out of the ordinary…
A woman was left stunned when a cheeky robin made itself completely at home during her stroll through a Yorkshire park. Fay Louise was simply enjoying a peaceful walk around Yorkshire Wildlife Park when a “very friendly, and presumably cold” robin decided her hair made the perfect perch.
Sharing her experience on Facebook’s British Bird Lovers group, she wrote: “Blessed by this very friendly (and presumably cold!) robin at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park today, who decided my hair was the perfect nestling spot.” The snaps she shared of her feathered friend were absolutely heart-melting.
She explained: “I first thought he was stuck, but when I freed him, he stayed for a long time, despite my encouragement to fly back into the woodland area, and followed me when I put him on the ground.” The bold robin could be spotted perched on her camera and snuggling into her hair, appearing utterly content to have discovered a cosy human radiator as temperatures plummeted below freezing.
The fearless bird was even comfortable being cradled in her hands, with Fay capturing several sweet shots of him nestled in her palm and gently held against his plump scarlet chest.
Fellow bird enthusiasts were charmed by the encounter in the comments, describing it as a “wonderful experience”.
One woman shared: “Where we used to live, we had a robin and blackbird that would sit on the wooden rail that ran up our few steps outside our kitchen window, either of them (it seemed they took it in turns) would gaze at us through the window until we went outside with the bird food and filled a small container for them, both very tame and would be beside the dish while we put the seed and mealworms in. We told the lady who bought our cottage, and she messaged us to say she had taken to doing the same”.
Another person revealed: “Legend has it that robins are messengers from your dead loved ones. If one appears and follows you, it’s a sign a dead loved one is looking over you and has come down for a visit”.
This notion is something telly psychic, Psychic Sally, firmly subscribes to. She revealed that when you’re looking for a signal from the afterlife, “one of the first signs you’ll receive is a robin”.
“Robins are free, they fly in, they fly out”, explained Sally, who performs shows nationwide, noting that you’ll “know” it’s your beloved person because you will “instantly think of the loved one that has passed”.
Sally, recognised for her stint on programmes such as Sally Morgan: Star Psychic, claimed that robins are souls who “want to say hello” – regardless of how long ago they departed this world.
The medium urged folks to keep an eye out for a robin today, as “it could be a sign from spirit”.
According to jindesigns, the well-known saying, ‘when robins appear, loved ones are near’, suggests that the robin serves as a messenger. “When robins are seen, some people find solace that their loved ones are at peace, and many believe that their departed loved ones are visiting them,” they said.
They further revealed that Britain’s unofficial national bird is “highly regarded”.
“The next time you see a robin in your garden, make sure to pay attention. You never know what message they might have for you”, they advised.
