The cutscenes really help mold Doom: The Dark Ages into a more story-driven FPS campaign to the tune of Gears of War and Call of Duty, allowing the main characters and their voice actors to take the spotlight and truly shine in the storytelling. Most actors are those you’ve seen before in past Doom games, with some even reprising their characters here, yet there are still a few surprise names.
8
Hell Priest
Voiced By Fred Tatasciore
Hell Priests are important figures in Doom’s lore that played a prominent role in Doom Eternal, and one of the main advisors to Prince Ahzrak in The Dark Ages is the Hell Priest named Belias. And the voice of the Hell Priest in The Dark Ages is delivered by none other than seasoned voice actor Fred Tatasciore.
Tatasciore is Adam Wilkins in Prime Video’s Invincible, Brutus in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Hades in Netflix’s Blood of Zeus, and various characters in Love, Death & Robots. But he’s ultimately most famous for his roles across various Marvel and DC projects, including Hulk in Midnight Suns and Marvel Rivals and Rhino in Marvel’s Spider-Man, as well as Bane in the Batman: Arkham series.
7
Kreed Maykr
Voiced By Darin De Paul
There’s a new Maykr in town in this Doom prequel, and his design is like a cross between Dune’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and Monsters, Inc.’s Henry J. Waternoose III. Voicing the Kreed Maykr is no stranger to the Doom series, as it’s Darin De Paul, the voice of beloved character Samuel Hayden in the previous entries, Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal.

Doom: The Dark Ages went in a big different direction from Doom Eternal. Was it for the better?
Another iconic video game character Darin De Paul voices is J. Jonah Jameson in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series, and he’s also Ghost Rider in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Truman Zanotto in the Psychonauts series, the Great Shinobi Owl boss in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Reinhardt in the Overwatch games are additional roles you may know De Paul for.
6
Commander Valen
Voiced By Kyle Chapple
One of your allies in Doom: The Dark Ages is Commander Valen, a character who actually appeared in Doom Eternal as the Betrayer, and you get to see more of his backstory and involvement in the prequel story. Valen is reprised by his original actor, Kyle Chapple.
Valen is probably Kyle Chapple’s most recognizable role to date. But aside from the Doom series, Chapple is also Deadman in Call of Duty: Mobile, Kurth in Delta Force – Black Hawk Down, and Murray the Mummy in the children’s horror game Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures. He also has minor voice credits in The Addams Family 2, FX’s Archer, and Diablo 4.
5
King Novik
Voiced By Piotr Michael
The reign of King Novik in Argent D’Nur is front and center in the prequel adventure. You’ve previously met King Novik’s spectral form in Doom Eternal, and he’s indeed reprised by voice actor Piotr Michael, now with much more prominent screen time. In addition to Novik, Michael also voiced the Dark Lord in Doom Eternal and The Origin in Doom 2016.
If you follow Star Wars media, you’ll know Piotr Michael as the voice of Yoda in Young Jedi Adventures, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, and Young Jedi Adventure Shorts. Michael also voiced Broadfoot in The Wild Robot, Spock in Star Trek: Resurgence, an underrated choice-based game, and Mayor Zander in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. He’s also a comedian known for voicing former President Joe Biden and other political figures on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
4
The Witch
Voiced By Gina Gershon
Accompanying the Hell Priest and Prince Ahzrak in Doom: The Dark Ages to round out the villain squad is an enigmatic witch, who becomes an eventual boss alongside Ahzrak. The Witch is surprisingly voiced by Hollywood icon Gina Gershon in what is her first video game voice acting role, but not her first video game project, as she also plays Moxxi in the 2024 Borderlands movie.

Gershon’s most famous movie roles include Eli Roth’s holiday horror movie Thanksgiving, Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls, The Wachowskis’ Bound, William Friedkin’s Killer Joe, and John Woo’s Face/Off. She also voiced Catwoman in The Batman TV series and guest-starred in numerous other shows, including Riverdale as Jughead’s mother, Gladys Jones, as well as Rescue Me, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Amsterdam, and Doctor Odyssey.
3
Commander Thira
Voiced By Debra Wilson
Commander Thira is King Novik’s daughter and the secondary protagonist alongside the Slayer in Doom: The Dark Ages, essentially a warrior princess in charge of leading the Night Sentinel Army. She’s a key part of the story, and voicing Thira is the ever-brilliant voiceover artist Debra Wilson, who’s behind countless prominent video game characters.
Debra Wilson’s long resume of voice acting roles includes Cere Junda in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor, Grace Walker in Wolfenstein 2 and Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Batman: The Enemy Within, as well as voicing Waller in the TV series My Adventures with Superman. Wilson also does monster voices, like in The Nun, Cobweb, 2023’s Dead Space Remake, and Slitterhead.
2
Prince Ahzrak
Voiced By Rick Cosnett
The main antagonist of Doom: The Dark Ages is Prince Ahzrak (aka The Prince of Hell), unleashing Hell’s forces upon King Novik and the Night Sentinels in a quest to obtain the Heart of Argent. Voicing this intimidating new Doom universe villain is actually television star Rick Cosnett, who you may be most familiar with for his iconic Arrowverse character Eddie Thawne in CW’s The Flash.

1
Doom Slayer And Slayer Suit
Voiced By Jason E. Kelley And Robbie Daymond
The coolest part about the Slayer, even though he already comes equipped with an epic array of weapons and a Shield Saw, is that he’s voiced by Jason E. Kelley, who previously voiced Colt Vahn in Deathloop and reprises the role from Eternal’s The Ancient Gods DLC. And the voice of your Slayer Suit is none other than Spider-Man voice actor and Hi-Fi Rush’s protagonist, Chai, Robbie Daymond.
Kelley also voices Bohai in Horizon Forbidden West, Karison Endler in Starfield, and Atlantic City’s Mayor Tim in Fallout 76. In live-action, you can see him as Tim Weaver in Mayor of Kingstown. Daymond also voices River Ward in Cyberpunk 2077 as well as NPCs in Forbidden West and Starfield, like Kelley. Both Robbie Daymond and Jason E. Kelley also voice characters in Netflix’s Devil May Cry anime.
Jason E. Kelley also voices the side character Marok in Doom: The Dark Ages, who is Valen’s son.
