Malachy is stepping up in the shady merchant world, as this time he asks you to locate and return with a Fore-Dweller’s Finger – one of the rarest items in Avalon. Unlike your previous assignments, this task won’t have as many solutions.
How To Start Fore-Dweller’s Finger For Malachy
Once you’ve completed Eye of Marrowghast for Malachy, he’ll immediately offer you the third and final fetch quest: Fore-Dweller’s Finger for Malachy.
Per usual, Malachy doesn’t give you any help with where to find this item, as you’re left to rely on your resourcefulness and ingenuity.
Where To Get A Fore-Dweller’s Finger
Luckily, you won’t need to look far; just head over to the Village adjacent to the Horns of the South fortress in the southwestern area of the map.
Once here, head to Ron’s Tavern in the middle of town – you can’t miss it. Inside, find a woman named Elaine in the back left corner, sitting on her own.
Speak to Elaine, who introduces herself as Lady Elaine, the woman in charge of the Farshire Library, and follow along with the orange dialogue options to receive her quest: The Last Voyage.
Lady Elaine tasks you with heading to a ship called Andraste to find a rare artifact for her. However, before you begin, she hands you a book to read, called the Last Voyage of Andraste, to test you and see how smart you really are.
Here are the correct answers to Elaine’s test:
- They found: Figurine of a Fore-Dweller
- Andraste’s Destination: Island Asylum
- The Andraste was sunk by a Sea Monster.
Once you’re done with your reading comprehension assignment, you can continue with your quest by going to the Horns of the South Museum within their main stronghold.
At the museum, speak to Rhydderic and ask him about the Andraste. He will point you to its probable wreck location.
Your quest marker will show a circle far off the eastern coast of the Horns of the South, where you’ll need to search for the Andraste.
To save time, fast travel to the Ruined Broch, then go straight to the southern shore of the island directly below the quest marker.
Here, loot the Reinforced Chest you’ll find on the lower deck of the ship and claim the Personal Diary of Captain Lex, which you need to read.
This will lead you to a cave near The All-Mother’s Temple, which you can swim to from this island. Once you reach the Castaways Cave from the water, head inside.
- Progress forward and kill all the Drowners in your path (plus a Scourge of the Seas enemy) until you reach a large cavern with light billowing down from above.
- Approach the large creature in the center of the cavern.
- Choose the ‘Rip off the finger’ option to acquire a Fore-Dweller Finger for Malachy.
What Rewards Do You Get From Fore-Dweller’s Finger For Malachy?
With the finger in hand, return to Malachy at the Deserted Settlement and give him the Fore-Dweller’s finger.
As a reward for your efforts, you’ll receive the following:
- 1,700 xp
- 248 coins
- Wand of Piercing Cold, which applies Chill buildup.
With this done, Malachy will be done offering you work for the time being.
