No matter what I write here, it will never prepare you for the absolutely wild ride that this chain of wedding emails will take you on. You could spend all day guessing, but you would never believe the amount of changes that the bride and groom are making to their upcoming nuptials.
What happens if you hastily plan a wedding, or you plan it so haphazardly that you’re left changing every detail in the lead-up to the event? This is almost unheard of. A lot of couples choose to send “save the date” invites very far in advance of their actual wedding, and rarely do those dates change. People need to know that they should take time off work, prepare to travel and have childcare available, and save up money for clothes, gifts, and bach parties. The date is very important, as is the general area. Sure, maybe you haven’t secured a venue just yet, but it’s nice to give guests the general town that you’re going to wed in. After all, if it’s a destination wedding in Hawaii, your guests will plan far differently than if you’re saying “I do” in your hometown.
This bride and groom changed the date and location, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. As one commenter pointed out, the couple may just assumed their wedding church venue was available, when in reality, many churches require the couple to reserve their spot months in advance. So as you will read, this couple probably found themselves scrambling to figure out how to accommodate everyone they invited to the wedding… while also changing almost everything about said wedding. It’s a fascinating read, and the other commenters and I can’t wait to peek into the updates when this wedding fiasco finally happens.
