So it’s your kiddo’s birthday, and as their parent, you can’t wait to celebrate. You let them plan a party for their family and friends, and they get to pick out all the decorations. You might let them choose what food they want for their birthday dinner, as well as the exact cake they want. Kids go nuts for this kind of thing, and as a parent, you get the satisfaction of watching everyone around you celebrate your child on their special day.

Can they celebrate at school, though? It is completely up to each school (or district) to determine that. A lot of schools have to consider allergies very seriously when they make these calls. If there’s a class of 30 kids, but little Jenny has a severe allergy to one common ingredient, there’s just no safe way to let all the other kids have their sweet treats. Schools take this so seriously that if even one kid has a peanut allergy, for example, they’ll ban PB throughout the entire school, which impacts hundreds of kids.

This parent made some really lovely-looking cupcakes for their child’s birthday, but the school originally rejected them, which was a shame, because the parent put a lot of effort into them. Check out the update to “cupcakegate” down below!

Next up, read about the employee who almost got fired when his company of 15 years tried to steal his pension, leaving his best friend to save the day: “[He] asked HR to prove it.”
