The other day, a man attending an Oval Office conference about lowering the cost of weight loss drugs passed out during the meeting and needed medical attention. The following photo has been widely circulated and it shows others, including Doctor Oz, tending to or at least concerned about the man. It also shows President Donald J. Trump just standing there, not even looking at the emergency in his office…
Now, there are three possible ways to interpret this photo and we’ll start with the one most favorable to our current Chief Exec…
- One photo of an event does not always capture all that occurred and there perhaps were other moments that showed some leadership on the part of President Trump and some concern for the man.
- Trump had no concern for the man, which some would equate with a lack of concern for Americans who are now worried about not being able to eat and not being able to afford health care. And those aren’t just blue state residents that Trump is out to punish because, regardless of how they themselves voted, their state didn’t award him its electoral votes. Many of the people scared about food security and medical needs dwell in red states and even supported Trump. But he’s more interested in building a Big, Beautiful Ballroom and a Big, Beautiful Bathroom and sending Big, Beautiful American Taxpayer Bucks to Argentina, all the time also using the power of his office to enrich himself, close associates and members of his family.
- Trump is now in such poor health, both mental and physical, that he didn’t have any idea what to do about what was a rather minor emergency compared to the major ones with which The President of the United States must be prepared to handle.
Believe it if you possibly can but I’d sure rather that #1 be the case. That’s hard to swallow because the White House didn’t release any photos of Trump grabbing up the phone to summon aid or looking concerned about the visitor or taking any sort of command of the situation.
There are a number of different polls showing Trump’s current approval ratings. The amounts vary but they’re all deeper underwater than Aquaman ever ventured. That’s true even on issues like Immigration and Handling the Economy that are supposed to be Trump’s strengths. This is why, unlike a few friends of mine, I’m not worried about this man getting a third term.
Oh — and there’s also the fact that The Constitution says he can’t do that. But I don’t think it’s even going to get to the time when that could matter.
