On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal dropped a bombshell piece about one of Elon Musk’s alleged “baby mamas” Ashley St. Clair. She’s accusing the world’s richest man of denying a paternity test and flaking on child support payments.

While that is all important to the story, many on social media are focusing on another tidbit that’s revealed in the piece. It concerns another woman named Tiffany Fong, who allegedly was courted by Mr. Musk in direct messages back when she was Twitter’s main character in late 2024.

Fong, a right-leaning cryptocurrency X influencer, made viral waves at the end of last year when it was believed that she had rejected Musk either romantically or reproductively. The idea was planted when Fong posted her X Premium earnings, showing a whopping $21,000 made in a two-week span.

Soon after, Fong was unfollowed by Musk and her earnings dropped significantly. Many thought she was being targeted for retaliation. “Oh yeah, she definitely told him no,” wrote one Twitter user.

After speaking with St. Clair, the Wall Street Journal unearthed some information about Fong from an unnamed source, who told them that Musk sent her a direct message asking if she wanted to have his child. The two had reportedly never met in person.

Fong rejected the proposal, saying that she wanted to have a more traditional, nuclear family. She reportedly told some friends about the matter, including Ashley St. Clair.

The Journal claimed that Musk learned about Fong’s loose lips and unfollowed her soon after.

Fong seemingly didn’t want to be a part of Mr. Musk’s “legion” of babies and mothers. Musk reportedly wants “to reach legion-level before the apocalypse,” according to St. Clair.

The update in the drama has since gone viral on Musk’s own social media platform.

Some of the reactions are roping the Tiffany Fong allegations into discourse about X replacing the DMs feature with something called “XChat.”

One viral post outlined the cause and effect in a 4chan greentext format:

>Elon gets rejected by Tiffany Fong
>Removes DMs

It’s ultimately unconfirmed if Musk fumbling Fong has led to the XChat decision. Reports on the new feature cast it as a new form of direct messaging rather than a complete removal. XChat will likely just include a few extra features and a different, branded name.

Of course, though, many of Musk’s detractors feel vindicated after the Wall Street Journal’s piece. But jumping to conclusions about cause and effect (cause: Elon getting clowned; effect: Elon removing an X feature) might not be entirely accurate.

For instance, many people online like to point to one incident that purportedly made Musk private likes on X. The screenshot shows a tweet about milking a certain, tiny member of the billionaire’s body.

However, the screenshot is a doctored hoax that spread en masse back in mid-2024.

Regardless, the theory continues to spread as Musk’s controversies line up major changes on his social media platform, leading people to search for patterns in the chaos.
