“Who walks out of work twice and still expects to be considered an employee?” one person wondered after hearing the story of this worker with a hot temper.
There are some workplaces where tempers tend to run high, and that’s just a part of the office culture. Workers can get frustrated and blow off some steam, then go for a walk, and come back refreshed without any repercussions. It still might raise some eyebrows, though. If you do that too often, you might gain a reputation for being a hothead. Handling your stress with grace is a learned skill, but when you just get easily frustrated, it can pile extra work onto your coworker’s shoulders while you sit there and whine about it. After a while, this behavior will almost certainly get you either fired or reprimanded: no one wants to work with a grown-up toddler who can’t stop throwing hissy fits over the job they’re literally being paid to do.
So much of a person’s success in the workplace has nothing to do with their actual skills. It all has to do with their personality. Are they a good person to work with? A skilled communicator? A pleasure to be around? You’d probably rather work with someone who’s just okay at their job, yet lights up every room they walk into, rather than someone who’s amazing at their job, but leaves everyone around them walking on eggshells.
