Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine’s recent Master Crafted Edition remaster has received so much backlash over its pricing that the developers are offering everyone full refunds and a big discount.

Last month, Games Workshop hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase to share details about a ton of gaming projects set in the Warhammer universe. There were a lot of surprises during the showcase, including the announcement of a remaster for the original Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine from 2011.

Considering what a massive hit Space Marine 2 was, it made a lot of sense that the first game would get a bit of a shine-up for both new and returning fans. Sadly, the excitement was instantly let down by the remaster’s hefty $40 price tag, which many agreed was for too much considering there was already a much cheaper anniversary edition.

The Master Crafted Edition of Space Marine was received very poorly when it launched a few weeks ago, with fans taking to its Steam page to leave a ton of negative reviews. It seems that the game’s developers at SneakyBox have realised that the backlash isn’t going to slow down any time soon, as they’ve announced a big change.

As pointed out by Wario64 on Twitter, an update was shared to the Master Crafted Edition version of Space Marine’s Steam Page. The statement starts with the team announcing that it’s “heard your concerns around pricing” and that it has a few steps in mind to address them.

The first step is to offer full refunds to anyone who has already bought the Master Crafted Edition of Space Marine, regardless of how long they played the game for. Those who want a refund will have to request it before Thursday, July 10, so you’ve got around two weeks to get your money back.

If you liked the remaster but simply didn’t want to pay so much for it, you’ll be happy to know that a big discount is now in affect for anyone who owns the Anniversary Edition of Space Marine. If you buy the Master Crafted Edition before July 10, you’ll get a whopping 50 percent discount, which is much more reasonable.

That being said, that does mean the game will still be as expensive for anyone who hasn’t got the Anniversary Edition. It’s also a timed offer, which feels a bit like a band-aid over a bullet hole.
