During today’s Xbox Games Showcase, we received official confirmation of Persona 4 Revival, a remake of one of the most beloved RPGs of all time. Though many of the core developers behind the franchise created a new development unit several years ago under the name Studio Zero to create last year’s best RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Sega and Atlus want fans to know that the series will continue.

Following today’s reveal of Persona 4 Revival, P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada released a statement, which you can see in its entirety below.

Hello, this is Wada from P-STUDIO.

We are very pleased to announce the release of Persona 4 Revival. We look forward to sharing even more information in due time.

Persona 4 has spawned numerous spin-off works, including TV anime, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night, and is a special title that has been a part of Atlus for many years and holds a personal place in my heart. We are currently working on this project with all our passion and love. We are confident that this will be a fresh and surprising product for both newcomers and long-time fans, and we look forward to sharing it with you all.

Additionally, we are actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series as a studio. We are working hard to meet the expectations of fans around the world, and our work is progressing well. Please stay tuned for more updates.

We look forward to your continued support of the Persona series.

This is consistent with what Persona 3, 4, and 5 director Katsura Hashino told me last summer when I interviewed him as director for Metaphor: ReFantazio for what would end up being a lost cover story (that you can now read here) when Game Informer was shut down by its previous parent company.

“We want our fans to know that we’re going to continue to make Persona games,” he told me in Tokyo last July. “So, when we broke off and made our own, new thing, we left P-Studio intact. That’s saying, ‘Hey, look, we’re still making Persona games, but we’re also going to do this new thing.'”

Persona 4 Revival does not have a release window, but when it launches, it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will also be on Xbox Game Pass on day one. For more on Persona 4 Revival, head here.
