When your job has already pushed you to the brink of quitting, it can only take one more little tiny incident to set you over the edge. For example: one restaurant worker quit over a plate of jalapeños! But it wasn’t just jalapeños. It was that they had impatient customers who were waiting on those peppers as 1 of their 3 items that they were trying to eat. The chefs were ignoring this waiter, even though the waiter was so desperate that they offered to chop the pepper themself. Still, the chefs had quite an ego, and told that waiter that if they couldn’t handle how the kitchen was run, that they’d need to find work elsewhere. And guess what? They did! That was the little inciting incident that led them to walk out the door and never look back. It’s never just about one thing — there are usually 100 little issues that go unaddressed before that person quits in frustration.

For many people, quitting a minimum wage job just isn’t a big deal in the first place. There are plenty more where that came from. We’ll always need waiters, hosts, chefs, bussers, retail workers, fast food workers, and other customer service roles. Just because one of them isn’t working out, doesn’t mean there’s not a great job lined up for you at another place. And who knows, by quitting that bad job, you might even make more money at your next gig!

Next up, read about this HOA that’s literally gate-keeping children, as they shared in this petty note to avoid ‘depleted candy’ on Halloween night: “Trick or treating will be limited.”
