Palia has been going from strength-to-strength recently, all culminating in the Elderwood update that launched last month. With such a large update now having come and gone, Palia fans have been wondering what we can expect in the near and distant future, so developer Singularity 6 has now provided its first Palia Path roadmap, outlining all the new features that are in the works.
First, Singularity 6 outlines everything that will be included in the Radiance Rising update which arrives later this week. On top of a new event, some new quests to complete, pets, and an increased storage limit, Palia is adding a bunch of new plushes for you to spruce up your homes with. They all look pretty neat, but there’s one plush that has caught the eye of a certain community.
Palia Is Getting A New Plush That References Dead Sony MMO Free Realms
In the video, we see a plush of an orange squirrel with blue hair described as a “familiar face” to people who enjoyed Sony’s long-dead MMO Free Realms. That’s because it’s supposed to represent the game’s mascot character, Chatty.
If you haven’t heard of Free Realms, it was a fantasy MMO similar to Palia developed by Sony Online Entertainment that launched on PC way back in 2009, and then came to PS3 in 2011. Unfortunately, just like a lot of MMOs that attempted to capitalize on World of Warcraft fever back then, Free Realms was eventually shut down in 2014.

Even now, Free Realms still has its admirers, so much so that a group of dedicated fans are trying to revive the game with the “Open-Sourced Free Realms” project, and clearly there are people working on Palia that admire Free Realms too.
It might just be a plush, but it’s nice to see a game that still holds a place in the hearts of Palia fans being honored in this way, especially since Palia may not actually exist the way that it does now without its influence. Free Realms may be gone for now, but it can still live on in a more official way thanks to this Chatty plush.
