This is Liam Ramos. A 5-year old child detained by I.C.E. The government insists that despite how this seems, we cannot trust our eyes! They insist that despite how this seems, they are "protecting us" and "saving our nation". But I ask you, is the sacrifice of the innocence in his eyes worth your "safety"? This is Liam Ramos. A 5-year old child detained by I.C.E. He has been branded as an "enemy" and a "danger" to our lives. They confidently say that his arrest is a necessary evil. But, look into his eyes. Can you see the innocence fading, as he realizes that liberty and justice are for some, and for others there's captivity and just I.C.E? Can you see his smile, which once lit up with the wonders of the world, dim with reality, the reality that the indivisible nation promised to him is divided and broken? Can you feel the strain on his tiny body, as he sees that anyone with a heart is gunned down mercilessly, killed in cold blood, just for saying out loud what we all know deep in our soul? That this is wrong? Look deep into his eyes. This is who they brand your enemy. This is who they make you fear. This is the "other" they protect us from. But when you look in those eyes, your own eyes don't deceive you. This is just a child. This is the cost of your ignorance. A child. So I ask again, is your safety worth the death of innocence? I think not. submitted by /u/tanishsingj |
