Animal Crossing’s Froggy chair is a series staple and the source of countless memes. It was first introduced in the original title and has survived through countless (5) generations of the game.
While Froggy chair is comfortably Animal Crossing’s most popular piece of furniture, it’s now seriously at risk of being dethroned. Following the surprise announcement of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ big 3.0 update, there might be a new king of seating in town, with the Big Man bench capturing the hearts of the masses.
Froggy Chair Vs Big Man Bench Is The Battle Set To Dominate 2026
Froggy chair is iconic, but it very nearly didn’t make it into Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The seat was absent from the launch version of the game; however, after much fan unrest, it was added in the second major update. Without that, we wouldn’t have this battle of the titans we’re seeing today.
During the surprise 12-minute trailer Nintendo dropped yesterday for Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ next big update, it revealed some big crossovers with Lego, The Legend of Zelda, and Splatoon, which is where our new beloved bench comes from.
Costing 3,330 bells, the Big Man bench is a bench styled on Big Man from the Splatoon series. For those unaware, Big Man is a giant manta ray, of which this bench is shaped exactly like, and it has become an instant hit.
Social media was immediately flooded with posts, with many quick to discard Froggy chair as a “chair of history”, declaring that Big Man bench is “the bench of today”. While once the master of memes, Froggy chair has, at least while the excitement is high, been pushed aside for its successor.
But while some were quick to move on from the Froggy chair, others leaped to its defense. On Reddit, ellamachine asked, “Why are we pitting two bad bitches against each other?” Timely-Cancel921 added, “Froggy chair is the og. Nothing can replace him.”
Whatever the outcome, this is one to keep an eye on next year.
