Some of us took it more as a race… Edit: *all of the (embarrassing) For a few years now, a group of us predict and record different metrics over a year because we love a bit of arbitrary data. This year we decided to record every time we visited a pub. The rules were simple:
The 7 of us had 441 pub visits, in about 180 different pubs. Here are the results: Michael got the closest to his prediction with a 2 pub discrepancy, and James (me) failed the hardest with 145 at an 85 pub difference, making up 32.9% of the group's total pub visits at almost 3 per week. Interestingly, a couple years ago when we tracked days of drinking in a year, Kallan had the highest with 264 – oh how the mighty have fallen. Pub crawls are calculated as >3 pubs in one day. Below are some juicy charts of the year's tallies: It was close for a brief, beautiful moment. James and Emily make the rest of the group appear as a close race. April was a heavy one with a pub crawl for Adam + James' birthdays, and then some… And just because you asked, here's some more stats: I had the most unique pubs visited at 95, but Michael had the longest streak of unique pubs in a row at 29, and the highest coefficient of unique pubs overall, with 93% of his trips being to a different pub. Diversity index is measured by unique pubs/total pub visits, and loyalty score is measured by trips to modal pub/total pub visits. Adam and Meg loved their local (The Ship), and James and Emily had a pub quiz on Tuesdays at Effra Social. You've made it this far, so here's a couple more graphs to stimulate that visual cortex: Michael the clear winner on diversity. I came out as the biggest TWaT (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays drinker (though Mon was also included)). I visited more pubs in the week than anyone else did (bar Emily) for any day of the week. You may be detecting a thin layer of pride within this facade of alcoholism-denial. If there are any other stats you want to see then let me know, or ideas for some metrics we can track in the future. Some context: we're all in our mid/late 20s. Megan + Adam are a couple, as are James + Emily. I promise I'm not an alcoholic, I just like a good pub. My favourite pub of the year was St Peter's Tavern in Liverpool. And yes, I am just about employed. Thanks for reading! submitted by /u/Pixelzzz |
