A woman has shared a clip of her boyfriend’s food diary where he writes down the things he eats every single day, and he made an admission aout eating carrots daily
Keeping a physical food diary is a great way to ensure you’re eating food that will support your fitness journey and keep you accountable to yourself. Additionally, you can track the exercise you do as a means of self-motivation. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it’s definitely a handy method for some people.
However, when one woman went through her boyfriend’s food diary, she was left “crying,” joking that she didn’t know whether to laugh or feel really sorry for him and what he’d been through when he was younger. On TikTok account @hartcaffiene, she shared a brief clip of them both.
Over the top of it, she wrote: “I’m actually crying. My boyfriend just told me the reason he eats carrots every day is that kids used to bully him for being so pale in third grade.”
It’s not a rumour either, as according to Healthline, eating foods that contain beta carotene can help you tan without burning.
This includes carrots, sweet potatoes, and kale. More research is needed, but some studies show that beta carotene can help reduce sun sensitivity in people with photosensitive diseases.
However, eating too many carrots can also cause carotenosis, a harmless, reversible condition causing yellow-orange skin discolouration from eating too many carotene-rich foods.
One woman took to Reddit’s ‘Mildly Interesting’ forum to share her carotenosis symptoms, showing a before-and-after of how much her skin had changed.
She penned: “Carotenosis before and after. Left was me in December, right is me now after I stopped eating carrots every day”.
On the left-hand side, her skin definitely had an orange tinge to it compared to the pale look she was sporting in more recent times.
In the comments, someone wrote: “I used to work for an organic juice factory where the pay was crap, but you could drink all the juice you wanted. I had more than a few coworkers who had an orange tint. But dang, super fresh carrot juice is delicious!”
Another said: “There are people who eat carrots every day specifically to be that colour. Didn’t know it was a thing (to do it on purpose) until, of course, I saw it on TikTok”.
“There are a lot of women here in the UK who pay good money to achieve that orange hue,” somebody joked.
Meanwhile, one man penned: “When I was a baby, I LOVED Squash and Carrots. I would pretty much eat nothing else lol… My mum loved it till my nose turned a shade of orange like yours haha”.
Someone who also loved them as a kid shared that they were wrongly diagnosed with jaundice because of their carrot-eating habits, leaving their mum “stressed” about the situation.
