The hack makes your home smell fresh, inviting and ready for guests in just minutes
When you’re expecting visitors, making a brilliant first impression is key. There’s nothing quite like the welcoming feel of a home that smells wonderful the moment someone steps through the door.
It instantly demonstrates you take pride in your space and sets a positive tone for whatever’s ahead. Many homeowners fret about lingering odours, particularly if they’ve got dogs tramping in from muddy walks or indoor pets like guinea pigs or cats using litter trays.
Some opt for scented candles, plug-in air fresheners or a thorough clean before guests arrive to ensure their place smells spotless. However, there’s a straightforward method to keep your home smelling fresh and inviting that requires little effort and delivers lasting results.
Milly, who shares cleaning tips on TikTok, revealed her go-to technique for ensuring her home smells incredible when entertaining friends, family and loved ones. She begins by filling the sink with warm or boiling water, then adds a capful of Zoflora to the mix.
Zoflora is a concentrated disinfectant that eliminates most bacteria and viruses whilst banishing unpleasant smells and leaving behind a lingering fragrance. The product is stocked in most supermarkets and is available in various scents, reports the Express.
Milly said: “The hack is to fill up your sink with hot water and pop some Zoflora in there. Usually I go for a nice fresh scent like a lemon zing.
“And this has two purposes, number one Zoflora is a disinfectant so it’s going to disinfect your sink whilst it’s sitting in there. But also because you’re using the hot water, that is then going to rise and travel through your house.
“So I put the lemon zing in and my entire house smells of lemon so it smells really nice and fresh when guests arrive.”
Milly revealed she lets the concoction sit in the sink until she next needs to use it, which could range from 10 minutes to leaving it overnight.
The novel use of Zoflora was a revelation for many, with one woman praising Milly’s hack as “smart”. She exclaimed: “Wow that’s so smart, god bless your heart.”
