Having a newborn baby is tough, but having your mother-in-law stay with you for a month to “help out” can be just as taxing for some families!

When you’re dating someone, you always hope that you and their family get along. It’s a true blessing to love your in-laws! But not everybody gets along with their partner’s parents. Sometimes you adore the person you’re with, but their family is just not your cup of tea.

This person just had a baby, and their MIL is staying with them and their husband for an entire month! That would be a blessing in many families — those first months with a newborn baby who won’t stop crying and will only sleep if Mom’s holding him can be rough for new parents. If your in-laws are there, they can cook meals, take the baby for a while so Mom and Dad can get some sleep, and if there are other kids, they can keep an eye on the older kids while the parents get chores done. It really does take a village to raise these kids!

However, for this person, living with an MIL for even a single month has been taking it’s toll. In a mildly infuriating moment, this new parent shared the discovery that the kitchen had been rearranged, and spice jars scribbled on. It’s a minor issue, but it’s part of a bigger pattern of this person not wanting to share space with an MIL during an already stressful season of life.

Check out the full story below: some people understood how this person felt, while others were flabbergasted that someone would reject an extra set of helping hands during those first months with a baby. Read the full story for yourself to see who you’d side with, and what this person should do next.
