A travel fan splashed out a wild amount for a first class suite with Singapore Airlines A380, which included designer products, Champagne and more. So is it worth it?
A travel lover splashed out a fortune on a plane ticket to experience a “six hour journey of a lifetime” and has given his candid verdict – including whether the staggering price tag was worth it.
First class air travel is notoriously costly, typically an experience only the truly wealthy can enjoy. Yet travel influencer Antoine decided to take the plunge aboard Singapore Airlines, securing a ticket for a first class suite boasting a luxury bed, a separate reclining leather armchair, sliding doors for “total privacy”, ample storage, “exceptional” food crafted by “five renowned chefs”, and much more.
The content creator captured his entire experience on film, providing a thorough glimpse into the flight and what the hefty ticket price actually delivered, uploading it to YouTube where it has – to date – accumulated more than 80,000 views.
Upon boarding, he was escorted to his private suite where he received a travel kit packed with skincare and beauty products, along with a set of pyjamas courtesy of prestigious French retailer Lalique – a brand celebrated for its premium crystal, furniture, jewellery and fragrances.
Antoine was also presented with a pair of Bang & Olufsen headphones, which he noted retail at $500 (£370).
He then browsed the “thick” menu, detailing dishes curated by five chefs alongside an impressive Champagne selection.
Feeling “overwhelmed” by the choices on offer, a cabin crew member visited his suite to walk him through the menu “page by page”, helping him settle on his dinner selections. During the flight, Antoine savoured crystal Champagne, warmed nuts, caviar and additional delicacies.
As dinner service commenced, he noted it resembled dining “at a fancy restaurant”.
He chose bread from an array of choices to pair with his starter, while enjoying more crystal Champagne.
Antoine then tucked into smoked salmon, scallops and couscous, followed by cream of asparagus soup, and a main dish of “crispy lamb chops”. His “wonderful” meal was “finished off with an espresso and a hot towel”.
In the luxurious suite, he “had so much space” that he managed to unpack his “whole bag”. Later, Antoine was escorted to a bathroom which resembled “like a spa at 30K feet”, where he changed into the supplied Lalique pyjamas, socks and slippers.
When he returned to his suite, the cabin crew had prepared his bed for sleeping. In his video’s caption, Antoine described his suite as a “private hotel room in the sky”.
In total, the experience cost him around £10,000. So did he think it was worth it?
Reflecting on his journey in text overlaid on the footage, he commented: “In my opinion, this was probably the best flight experience of my life. While the price tag is high, the service and quality of Singapore Airlines lives up to the hype. I highly recommend it.”
He concluded in the caption: “If there is a true First Class throne in the sky, this is definitely it.”
In the comments section, fellow YouTube users were eager to offer their opinions. One said: “Truly awesome experience. Did it London to Sydney 3 years ago with my wife on Valentine’s Day. Very romantic. Heading off to do it again in late February.”
Another said: “Wow, I would pick the longest possible non-stop route to ensure I was in that suite for a while. I only eat once or twice a day and do not drink, but it would still be worth it.”
A third commented: “Caviar service on Singapore Airlines A380 is a pioneer”. A fourth said: “Worth every penny”.
Someone else appeared less convinced and shared: “I mean for 13,000$ you expect a bit more but very nice indeed”. While another added: “90% of that stuff I wouldn’t even use!”
Canadian-born Antoine, who currently lives in Dubai, parted with $13,980 (£10,348) for his first class ticket on Singapore Airlines A380.
