Angel Sweetman, 24, and her three friends came up with a genius way to get their takeaways upstairs without actually leaving their home. And the plan left them in hysterics
We’ve all been there – the dreaded hangover, craving greasy food but lacking the energy to leave the house to get it.
To overcome this hurdle, Angel Sweetman and her mates decided to think outside the box. The 24-year-old, along with her friends Latisha, Caitlian and Celsea, devised a plan to avoid having to traipse down the stairs to collect their Deliveroo order.
The four mates, who live in Cardiff, gathered as many dressing gown cords as they could and knotted them together to create an impromptu pulley system. They then dangled the ropes out of the window, much like Rapunzel did with her hair.
By tying six ropes together, they managed to convince the amused delivery rider to attach the food package to it. It was a gamble – but luckily none of their Slim Chickens order ended up on the pavement.
Angel successfully hauled the bag up three floors without any mishaps, much to everyone’s delight.
The beautician reminisced: “We were crying with laughter the whole time. We used six ropes and it worked perfectly.
“It was a Slim Chickens order for our hangover. The driver found the request funny.
“We all came up with the idea. Best believe he got tipped for this!”
Tips to combat a hangover
1. Hydrate – Alcohol dehydrates your body. Drink plenty of water, or try electrolyte-rich drinks (sports drinks, coconut water, or oral rehydration solutions).
2. Eat – Consuming some food can help to balance your blood sugar levels. Opt for bland foods like toast, crackers, bananas, or soup as they are easy on the stomach.
3. Go back to bed – Sleep aids your body’s recovery process. So if possible, get some additional rest.
4. Take vitamins – Some individuals find B vitamins and vitamin C supplements beneficial, as alcohol tends to deplete these nutrients.
5. Avoid hair of the dog – Consuming more alcohol will only exacerbate the issue, so try ginger or peppermint tea instead. These can help alleviate nausea and settle your stomach.
