Where Winds Meet has dozens of different bosses to face, all with varied movesets and mechanics. To beat them all, you’ll have to refine not only your build, but your skills as a player too, doubly so if you’re playing on Expert or Legend difficulty, where bosses are more punishing than ever.

Where Winds Meet: For Whom Does He Return Main Story Quest Walkthrough

Here’s a complete walkthrough for the final main quest in the Qinghe storyline in Where Winds Meet.

In a kind of epilogue to the first chapter of the game’s story, you’ll be able to face Yi Dao, the Killerblade, in a battle. As you’ve seen throughout the story, he’s no pushover, so get ready for a tough fight. To find where this boss is located and how to beat him, you need only look below.

Yi Dao Boss Location

The entrance to the Dreamscape version of Blissful Retreat in Where Winds Meet.

The Yi Dao boss fight is located within the Dreamscape version of Blissful Retreat. To access this area, touch the sword near the burned building in the northwest part of Blissful Retreat; this will transport you to Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat.

Now, follow the path forward, using Cloud Steps to jump along the mountain, to reach the end of the area, where Yi Dao awaits.

Yi Dao Boss Fight Walkthrough

Yi Dao using a jumping attack on the player in Where Winds Meet.

Yi Dao combines jumping sword attacks with waves of sword energy, ensuring you aren’t safe at any range. Yi Dao’s most common attack has him jumping into an overhead slash. This is a red attack, meaning if you parry it, you’ll perform a counterattack, dealing massive Qi damage.

Yi Dao will commonly string his attacks into an overhead jumping attack, so it’s important to get the parry timing down on this one.

Another dangerous attack to watch out for is Yi Dao’s energy wave. This comes in two forms: the first is a simple wave of red blade energy that flies towards you, but the second, and more dangerous version, involves Yi Dao firing off three of these waves in quick succession, with a short window between the second and third. These are better to dodge than parry, especially if you’re at a distance from the boss.

Yi Dao has a somewhat unpredictable string of attacks that mixes sword swings with shoulder tackles. Typically, he doesn’t move around too much during this combo, so it’s best to get out of the way and wait for the attack to finish, rather than parrying every single strike.

The player using Celestial Seize to take Yi Dao's weapon in Where Winds Meet.

Occasionally, Yi Dao will bring his sword close and start to channel energy into it. During this animation, you can use Celestial Sieze to grab his weapon from him and perform a counterattack. This counterattack doesn’t deal the most HP or Qi damage, but it does allow you to avoid this attack.

Similarly, Yi Dao will sometimes hold his sword out to the side and channel energy into it, then perform a powerful overhead slam that hits twice. If you opt to parry this attack, be sure to parry the second hit of damage as well.

Yi Dao’s gold attack involves him charging up energy for a second, then unleashing a flurry of slashes in the area in front of him, followed immediately by a red parriable counterattack dash. If you get caught in the whirlwind, you’ll take continuous damage. If you do get caught, spam the parry button, and you’ll usually be able to hit the parry on the follow-up dash.

Finally, Yi Dao’s most dangerous attack has him plant his sword in the ground, then sound out three waves of three shadow clones in an arc, which automatically target you. The best way to avoid this attack is to perfectly dodge backwards on the first set to get out of range, then stay away until the second two sets resolve.

Overall, besting Yi Dao involves learning his attack animations and the best timing to dodge or parry them, just like every other boss in the game. If you’re having trouble, you can try lowering the difficulty or coming back with better gear.
