The 2026 Golden Globes were held last night, celebrating the best in film and TV from the previous year. One Battle After Another and Adolescence both won the most awards of the night, each receiving four awards. Meanwhile, Hamnet, KPop Demon Hunters, The Pitt, and The Studio also won big.
But, besides the list of winners, there were several memorable moments that happened on stage, backstage, in the audience, on the red carpet, and more. So, here’s everything you might’ve missed at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards:
1.
First, on the red carpet, there were several standout looks, such as Jennifer Lawrence wearing this sheer, custom Givenchy gown. The dress featured pink floral embroidery throughout, and it was a stunning look all around.
2.
Meanwhile, Hailee Steinfeld and Wunmi Mosaku both looked gorgeous in a pink metallic gown and a vibrant yellow one, respectively. The Sinners costars walked the red carpet, debuting their baby bumps. Hailee announced her pregnancy in December, marking her first child with husband Josh Allen. Meanwhile, Wunmi used the Globe’s carpet as an announcement for her second pregnancy, and she penned a really great essay for Vogue about it.
3.
In terms of men’s fashion, the undisputed best dressed for the night was 6-year-old Duke McCloud from All Her Fault, who wore a perfectly tailored blue suit, black and white shoes, a tiny pocket square, and an emerald lapel pin and brooch. On the red carpet, he adorably told Entertainment Tonight, “I did a fitting to see which costume I should wear for this.”
4.
While being interviewed on the red carpet, Julia Roberts stopped her interview to remark on how gorgeous Jean Smart looked in a floor-length white gown. She said, “JEAN! You look gorgeous! You look like a goddess. A Greek goddess. CUT TO HER,” and the camera did just that.
5.
Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie was one of the most popular attendees at the Globes. On the red carpet, he managed to meet Ayo Edebiri, and the duo ended up taking a shot alongside Gayle King during his interview. They clinked glasses and said, “To new friends.”
6.
Several celebrities, like Mark Ruffalo, Jean Smart, and Wanda Sykes, were spotted wearing white pins that read, “BE GOOD.” The pins honored Renée Macklin Good, who was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Speaking about it in an interview on the red carpet, Mark said, “We have a woman, Renée Good, who was murdered in our streets of America, and we’ve got literal Storm Troopers running around terrorizing. As much as I love all this, I don’t know if I can pretend that this crazy stuff isn’t happening.”
7.
Before the official awards ceremony, Helen Mirren received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, which was presented to her by Harrison Ford on what has been named “Golden Eve.” In her speech, Helen eloquently thanked the writers, directors, actors, and others she has worked with throughout her career. A memorable moment was when she specifically called out the women she’s inspired by, and ended with Viola Davis. Helen said, “My ultimate goddess, Viola,” to which Viola seemed genuinely shocked and began to cry.
8.
Also at “Golden Eve,” Sarah Jessica Parker received the Carol Burnett Award for her contributions to TV. The award was presented to her by her Sex and the City co-star, Kristin Davis, and her husband, Matthew Broderick. In her speech, Sarah Jessica thanked all of the people she’s worked with, and gave a special shoutout to Sex and the City, saying, “In 1997 … I met Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Samantha Jones, and Miranda Hobbes, and I spent 25 years with the most glorious ensemble of women, and actors, where we treated all of New York like CBS television city and the streets like Studio 33.”
9.
Nikki Glaser returned for the second year to host the Golden Globes. Her opening monologue was met with several laughs, with a couple of awkward moments sprinkled in. Like, when she referenced Leonard DiCaprio’s affinity for dating younger women, saying, “You’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes and an Oscar — and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all that before your girlfriend turned 30.”
10.
And her Michael B. Jordan joke apparently did not go over that well with his mom, who was his plus one. Nikki quipped, “I can’t believe it, we got two Michael B. Jordans [in Sinners]. When I saw that, I was like, Nikki B. Jerkin’, because that was awesome…I’m sorry, I should not have said that to you; that should’ve been a DM.” People noted Michael’s mom’s face in the background while he laughed at the joke.
11.
Teyana Taylor received the first award of the night for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in One Battle After Another. She was so stunned when her name was called and got a standing ovation from the crowd. She ended her tearful acceptance speech by saying, “And last but most importantly, to my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
12.
Throughout the night, popular songs were played as presenters and winners made their way onto the stage. It was a playlist that had been hilariously described in this viral tweet as, “my pregame playlist.” Like, Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd won and walked up to “Yeah” by Usher, while Macaulay Culkin was soundtracked by “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison, and Judd Apatow got “APT” by Rosé and Bruno Mars. It was kind of delightfully chaotic.
13.
During a commercial break, former Disney Channel stars Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, who were both nominated, got to reunite. The moment rightfully sent the internet into a frenzy, with a video of them taking a picture and sitting next to each other gaining over a million views.
14.
Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet were spotted at their table, seemingly reacting to whatever was written on Kylie’s name card.
15.
Jean Smart won her third award for Best Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her performance in Hacks. When she got on stage to accept her award, she joked, “What can I say? I’m a greedy bitch.”
16.
Adolescence star Owen Cooper won for Best Supporting Male Actor on Television for his performance as Jamie Miller. With this award, he became the youngest actor ever, at just 16 years old, to win Golden Globe, Emmy, and Critics’ Choice awards back-to-back in a full sweep. In his speech, he spoke about the “incredible journey” he and his family have been through thanks to this show.
17.
This year’s ceremony marked the first time that an award for Best Podcast was given out. The winner was Good Hang with Amy Poehler. While everyone was happy for Amy, with some hilariously pointing out that she even beat her ex-husband, Will Arnett, many people criticized the inclusion of an award for a podcast. Especially since other film awards were cut from the broadcast. One viral comment read, “thank god amy won now eradicate the podcast category immediately.”
18.
As mentioned, the award that was cut from the live broadcast was Best Original Score, which went to Ludwig Göransson for Sinners. The decision to present the award during a commercial break was reportedly due to “time constraints,” which did not go over well with fans. Several people took to social media to comment, like with this viral tweet:
19.
EJAE gave one of the most tearful acceptance speeches of the night for “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters, which won Best Original Song. EJAE, who co-wrote the song and is the singing voice of Rumi, spoke about how hard she’s worked, saying, “When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly to fulfill one dream. To become a KPop idol, I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn’t good enough, so I leaned on songs and music to get through. So, now I’m here as a singer and songwriter. It’s a dream come true.”
20.
Rose Byrne was shocked by her win for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for her performance in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. She was so surprised she didn’t even write a speech. The best part of her acceptance was when she shouted out her husband, Bobby Cannavale. Rose hilariously said, “He couldn’t be here because we’re getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey.”
21.
Timothée Chalamet won for Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme, and after thanking his cast, he hilariously commented on the fact that he just thanked Kevin O’Leary, who stars as Milton Rockwell. Timothée said, “If you would’ve told me when I was 19 years old I would be thanking Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank.”
22.
After their back-to-back wins, Rose Byrne and Timothée Chalamet ran into each other backstage and exchanged this adorable moment where Rose was still in shock. Timothée told her, “Your brother [who Rose brought as her plus one] was so sweet. He was stunned. I wanted to put out an arm for him. But he was so sweet.”
23.
During a commercial break, Elle Fanning adorably interrupted a PDA moment between Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner to congratulate her friend and former costar. Elle and Timothée starred together in A Complete Unknown, and she spent most of last year’s awards season hanging out with Timothée and Kylie.
24.
Stephen Graham won for Best Actor in a Limited Series for his performance in Adolescence. While thanking his friends and family, he got distracted when he locked eyes with Queen Latifah. He said, “Queen Latifah, wow! Can’t believe it.” Then, he bowed to her.
25.
The awards show did this very random bit where they brought out two UFC fighters before Heated Rivalry stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams came out to present. Everyone in the audience, and people at home, were confused because the fighters walked on stage to flashing lights and loud music, and then just left. Apparently, the moment was because Paramount, the parent company of CBS, just struck a new UFC rights deal.
26.
Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams presented the award for Best Supporting Actress on Television, and did a whole bit where Connor was “nervous” to present. Then, they realized that a lot of the people in the room, as well as people’s moms, daughters, and more, have seen them naked in Heated Rivalry.
27.
While presenting the award for Best Performance in a Stand-Up Comedy on Television, Wanda Sykes hilariously roasted the nominees. For Ricky Gervais, she joked, “Ricky Gervais, I love you for not being here. No, I love you, Ricky, but because if you win, I get to accept the award on your behalf. And you’re gonna thank God. And the trans community.” Then, about a minute later, when Ricky won, Wanda was perfect. She joked, “Teyana [Taylor], can I borrow your speech? Ricky Gervais, because he would like to thank God, and the trans community.”
28.
During one of Nikki Glaser’s bits, she joked about Jeremy Strong’s outfit from last year’s Golden Globes, where he wore a bucket hat and sunglasses. While asking the audience if anyone had seen them because he had left them here, the camera panned to Amy Poehler. As many online said, Amy loves a bit at an award show, and it felt good to have her back doing one.
29.
After The Pitt was awarded Best Television Series — Drama, Noah Wyle, creator R. Scott Gemmill, and executive producer John Wells walked through the crowd to the stage. Along the way, they reunited with George Clooney, who worked with all three of them on ER.
30.

31.
After being stunned by their win for Best Motion Picture — Drama, the Hamnet cast and director/writer Chloé Zhao celebrated by dancing backstage. The cast and crew have said that while filming Hamnet, since it contains so much tough subject matter about grief, they would have dance parties to Rihanna between takes.
32.
And finally, Nikki Glaser closed the night wearing a Spinal Tap hat, in honor of writer and director Rob Reiner, who was killed late last year.
