Entrepreneurial Endeavors [OC]

A few weeks ago, something VERY bewildering occurred to me…

Here’s the deal: I was out of town for work in a DIFFERENT time zone. Because of this, I accidentally left work an HOUR early on my last day to catch an Uber to the airport. Luckily, I didn’t get very far––given that I had SCHEDULED for the Uber to pick me up at what was actually the CORRECT time. Therefore––after standing on the sidewalk for 10 minutes like a bride left at the altar, I realized my error and returned to my office. This is where things got funky…

For context: My office was on the 36th floor of an office building. Normally, one would reach this suite by simply pushing the button for the 36th floor in one of the building’s many elevators. This is what I did at this moment, except––for SOME reason––the button for the 36th floor DIDN’T light up. That said, the elevator started moving––until it abruptly stopped on the THIRTIETH floor… and the doors failed to open. O___o

I tried hitting the button for the 36th floor AGAIN––but to no avail. At this point, I basically just assumed I was going to die. But then I tried hitting the button to OPEN the elevator doors––which, uh, worked. My journey was far from over, however, as what lay beyond those doors was something straight out of the BACKROOMS. The floor was COMPLETELY abandoned––and it wasn’t until I hit the button for the ground level that I eventually found a way out of there.

Once ON the ground, I tried using a DIFFERENT elevator. But I kid you not: The EXACT same sequence of events then REPEATED itself. In the end, I approached a security guard for help––who was able to direct me to an elevator that ACTUALLY worked.

The moral of the story is that you shouldn’t forget to change the time on your wristwatch when traveling across time zones. ⌚️
