Donald Trump has just launched a site that claims it will help people find the lowest possible price for their prescriptions…and of course, it comes with a lot of puff about what a wonderful job Trump is doing saving Americans from being at the mercy of Big Pharma. The New York Times has an article that suggests the site isn’t all it’s being touted to be. To me, it looks like it’s just a copy of a site like GoodRx that consolidates offers that those Big Pharma companies are using to snare bucks from those with no health insurance.
Let me give you a tip: Comparison shop. A little time searching the Internet can save you a lot of money on prescription drugs. I have real good health insurance — Medicare plus the Writers Guild Health Plan. Even with that, I found online coupons and offers that got me a few items for lower prices. And right now, I have seven prescriptions and four of them are cheaper when I order from Mark Cuban’s CostPlus Drug Company.

It might be more convenient to get all seven from the same place by ordering from two sources, I save enough money to make it worth the (small) extra effort. Do yourself a favor and make up a little chart. You might be amazed how one source will charge a whole lot less than another for the same drug. And you should probably steer clear of Trump’s miserable excuse for an actual Health Plan. It’s obviously about propaganda, not prescriptions.
