A little over a year ago, Costco announced a change to its rotisserie chicken that sent die-hard fans spiraling, and it had nothing to do with the recipe (well, if you don’t believe the theories people have floated around).
The iconic hard-shell plastic packaging slowly began being phased out in favor of plastic bags, much to the disappointment of many shoppers. Seriously, people were livid.
Claims of leaks, poor transport ability, and even the quality of the chicken itself began taking over comment sections and Reddit threads. People were practically begging for them to bring back their old packaging.
Well, now there’s good news for all you Costco rotisserie chicken purists out there: a Tupperware container that perfectly fits your roasted bird.
It’s been spotted for about $14 in stores (about $24 when you purchase online) and comes fully equipped with a pullout tray so you can avoid greasy chicken hands.
No more flimsy bags collecting juices at the bottom of your fridge! No more chicken falling apart the moment you touch it! It feels like the world is finally healing.
And while people still have their issues with the bags (and, of course, needing to transfer their chicken into a new container), customers very much appreciate the XL Tupperware.
“Where was this all of our lives?” someone wrote.
Someone even gave us the best life hack, especially for those who sneak a taste of chicken in the car on their way home. (Sorry in advance to whichever Costco employee will inevitably have to clean up hundreds of soggy plastic chicken bags.)
Will we soon see a BYOC (bring your own container) movement at Costco? Maybe ditching the plastic bags entirely? A girl can dream.
