Cornetto lover ‘hits jackpot’ after finding something unlikely in his ice cream

A Cornetto fan has left other ice cream lovers jealous after he made an unlikely find while tucking into the product – as some told him he should ‘buy a lottery ticket’

Treating yourself to something sweet always feels good, but striking it lucky with a manufacturing error that makes your chosen treat even better can feel like winning the lottery. While rare, it’s not completely unheard of to find errors in some of our factory-made confectionery, such as finding a Kit-Kat that’s solid chocolate, or getting a Malteser with a chewy centre.

Whether you consider these errors to be improvements on the classic version of the product is down to personal preference, but it’s definitely exciting when it happens. And one person on social media might have just hit the ultimate jackpot of manufacturing errors after finding something surprising in their Cornetto.

In a post on Reddit, the Brit shared a photo of their half-eaten Cornetto. They had already eaten the ice cream off the top and had been working on munching the cone down to the delicious chocolate tip at the end. But less than halfway down the cone, they hit something astonishing – chocolate.

Instead of only having chocolate at the very bottom of the otherwise hollow cone, the Cornetto cone was completely filled with solid chocolate – leaving people in the comments seething with jealousy.

The person wrote alongside the images: “What a splendid manufacturing error.”

Commenters on the post were quick to tell the person that they should go out and “buy a lottery ticket”, as they clearly have luck on their side and could be in with a shot of winning the jackpot if their streak continues. Others sarcastically said they were happy for the poster, but insisted they wished it had happened to them instead.

One person said: “I’d go get that lottery ticket now if I were you.”

Another jokingly added: “I don’t really care if something good happened to you. It should have happened to me instead.”

A third wrote: “My jealousy is palpable.”

The poster replied to multiple comments to expand on their lucky find, stating they “almost broke their teeth” on the hard chocolate as they were not expecting it to be there. They also said they “regret rushing it” and wished they had taken their time savouring the unique treat.

They said: “I wish I had let it melt a bit first. Now I’ve got chocolate block, so I’m going to have to make a cup of tea. Regret rushing it. Could have dipped it in a cup of tea for the ultimate experience if I weren’t so greedy. But it was still 10/10.”

Other commenters also shared their own experiences with getting pleasantly surprising errors with their food. The most common one is cracking an egg to find it has a double yolk inside, but it can also happen with manufactured goods like chocolate and crisps.

Someone said: “I once got a bag of pickled onion Monster Munch that was half filled with just the flavouring powder.”

Another added: “Twice in my life I have had the enormous pleasure of eating an all-chocolate Kit Kat. They will be going on my end-of-life highlights reel.”
