Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office on his 66th birthday

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested today on suspicion of misconduct in a public office at his temporary home on the Sandringham estate.

On his 66th birthday, at least six unmarked vehicles carrying eight plain-clothes officers with police-issue laptops were seen arriving at Wood Farm around 8am.

The National Crime Agency has previously confirmed it was assisting UK police forces as they examine information contained in the Epstein files. The NCA stated it is supporting police to “enable a full and independent assessment of the information released”.

Pressure has been mounting on the disgraced royal regarding his links with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein following the release of three million pages of previously unseen emails, documents and images from the Epstein Files in the US.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said “nobody is above the law” concerning the Andrew allegations. Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Mr Starmer was questioned again about Andrew testifying, reports the Express.

He said: “Anybody who has any information should testify. So whether it’s Andrew or anybody else, anybody who has got relevant information should come forward to whatever the relevant body is, in this particular case we’re talking about Epstein, but there are plenty of other cases.

“Anybody who has got information relating to any aspect of violence against women and girls has, in my view, a duty to come forward, whoever they are.”

The disgraced former prince left his previous home, the Royal Lodge in Windsor, on February 2 for a more modest property on the royal estate at Sandringham.

Among the challenges the scandal-hit former Duke of York was reportedly grappling with at the time concerned the fate of his extensive collection of 60 teddy bears.

Previous staff members have commented on Andrew’s “peculiar” daily ritual at Royal Lodge, where they were obliged to position the teddies in a particular sequence on his bed. Nevertheless, he was apparently allowed to keep just one teddy bear at his new Norfolk home.

According to German newspaper Bild, the rest of Andrew’s teddies were put into storage for “practical reasons”, alongside other furnishings and belongings.

The publication indicated it remains unclear whether Andrew’s teddies will ever leave the storage unit given the diminished dimensions of his new accommodation.

Royal sources have previously spoken about Andrew’s attachment to his teddy bears.

Last year, when he was stripped of his titles and honours by the King due to his links with Jeffrey Epstein, a royal source told Heatworld: “He’s completely anthropomorphised them [the teddy bears], to the point that he’s convinced the move out of Royal Lodge is going to be hard on them because, as he says, it’s their home too.”

They added: “It really seems like being forced to move has sent him into a full-on meltdown because he keeps telling people the bears won’t cope with the change, it’s like he’s transferring his own emotions onto them, the way a little kid would.”
