Hey all! I was going to leave the pigeon posts where I last left off, but we’ve found ourselves having to take matters into our own hands At around 3am this morning, my friend noticed the boxes the nest was built on were about to topple over. At this point, neither of the eggs had hatched, and the pigeons were kind of just observing it all happen from a distance, basically watching their ship sink lmao. Anyway, she decided to make a new nest in a large plastic box and move the eggs into it. Just as she picked the eggs up, the whole thing collapsed. She did her best to clean the old nest and boxes up. The pigeons were disinterested At this point, one of the eggs had fully hatched, and the second egg had started cracking. She left the newly hatched squab and hatching egg alone and kept checking on them periodically, but the pigeons were still not interested. Once I woke up and got filled in on the details, we gave it another hour or so (it was around 9-10am at this point, and the squab had been left untended to since it had hatched) and decided to bring them inside to keep a close eye on them and keep them warm. We’ve contacted an animal rescuer and are just waiting for them to arrive and take over. We watched the second egg hatch just before I posted this!
