Summary

  • The Deathstalker Mantle is the best way to cheese encounters in Baldur’s Gate 3.
  • Unfortunately, it’s only available to Dark Urge.
  • Kill, go invisible, repeat.

Combat in Baldur’s Gate 3 can get pretty tough at times. If you’re not one to bump the difficulty down, you may have some trouble against Raphael, Ansur, and of course, the whole Netherbrain fight. While there are creative ways to win these fights easily, they rely on your knowledge of the game’s systems.

I might have proficiency in Charisma, but not in Rizz.

However, cheesing a fight in Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t very easy. Each encounter is unique, and your surroundings often play a big part – the fight against the Adamantine Golem in the Grymforge, for instance. Other times, it requires a pet to confuse the game itself. However, there is one item that can make most encounters almost trivial. The Deathstalker Mantle.

The Deathstalker Mantle In Baldur’s Gate 3 Is OP

Available only in Durge runs, the mantle is given to you by Sceleritas Fel. While you may think its best use is sneaking around, it makes for a powerful weapon in combat, as demonstrated by on Redditor. “I just completed Shadowheart’s quest by beating Mother Superior and I accidentally cheesed it,” said a post by Ramen_Doodles.

“I had brought myself (Durge, barbarian), Shadowheart, Lae’zel, and Gale and I was certain I was going to lose. They had killed (not just downed, completely killed) everyone but me. What I was doing was using the invisibility cloak thing you get from your butler as Durge (the one that makes you go invisible when you kill someone) and was just taking people out and going invisible.”

However, here’s the kicker. “I didn’t realize that because they couldn’t see me, once they fully killed everyone combat would end,” they continued. “So they killed Shadowheart which was the last person not dead in my party and I quickly went to camp before my invisibility wore off, revived my dead teammates, and went back in there and destroyed the rest of the enemies.”

The Deathstalker Mantle is an overpowered piece of equipment, as many comments pointed out. It works particularly well with gloomstalker/assassin, where you can turn invisible after picking off targets one by one.

Another noted that it was their main weapon during a Tactician run of Baldur’s Gate 3. The formula is pretty simple – kill an enemy, become invisible, and simply move on to your next victim. Sometimes, it’s just that simple.
