THE disgrace of having received free school meals is to be extended until the age of 35 by making recipients wear badges.
Labour is extending free school meals to any child whose parents receive Universal Credit, and extending the bullying received by such children until they are mid-life adults in office jobs asked where they got their ‘dosser meal deal’ every lunchtime.
Education secretary Bridget Phillipson said: “We do not want children to go hungry. But neither do we want these junior freeloaders to go unabused.
“We can trust the instincts of their fellow pupils while they’re young, but after that? When they’re making their first steps in the job market and nobody knows they were a pezzy free-dinners benefits kid? That seems wrong.
“Therefore everyone must wear a small blue badge to indicate they were queuing up for subsidised meals while their cool peers were cracking a can of Monster and a packet of Chilli Heatwave Doritos. Employers should stigmatise accordingly.
“This will encourage aspiration. Or if it doesn’t, it will at least stop Angela Rayner sitting with us in the canteen.”
Former school bully Nathan Muir said: “Not far enough. They should only be allowed to live in council flats and be buried in paupers’ graves.”
