Love on the Spectrum‘s Connor Tomlinson has had quite the journey this season.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE alongside his mom, Lise, the reality star, 26, opens up about his experience on the Netflix show and what the series has taught him about navigating relationships as an individual on the autism spectrum.
“It was amazing, profound, nerve-racking,” he says of his time on season 3. “It’s taught me a lot of lessons, like how to open a door for the lady, pull her seat out, listen to when she speaks, but it also made me realize what I’m capable of, or incapable of.”
In addition to seeing “a lot of cool places,” Connor says LOTS has “really helped me mature” when it comes to dating and learning to “control yourself” around his dates.

He admits there were times he felt “discouraged” about finding his perfect match and moments where he felt unsure about dating.
“I mean, it’s a lot of responsibility. You got to remember special days. You got to remember certain things. You got to know things. It’s a lot of pressure.”
This season on the Netflix hit show, the Atlanta native continues his journey in finding love. The “insightful and warm-hearted series” follows people on the autism spectrum as they “navigate the world of dating and relationships,” per an official synopsis.

Fans saw Connor make a romantic connection with Georgie. Soon after sharing their first kiss, the couple made their relationship official. Connor tells PEOPLE that the two are still together, but are navigating communication issues as they are both new to relationships.
Lise explains Connor’s been having difficulties reading “a female’s emotions,” while he adds that he’s hoping to have a conversation with Georgie in order to figure out “where I stand really.”
“Dating’s complicated, right?” Lise asks Connor, before sharing, “He’s been getting some mixed signals from her, he wants to have a talk with her. The navigating female signals has been a little bit of a hurdle, so they need to set up a time.”
Despite this, Connor and Georgie have been enjoying each other’s company, and the couple spent their first Valentine’s Day together last February.

“We went to Medieval Times,” he recalls. Lise notes how Connor upgraded Georgie to the “queen’s package” which allowed them to get front row seats to the joust.
In terms of gifts, Connor says he gave her “a blanket with her and her old dog on it.” Georgie also got him something similar.
“She got me a blanket [with a photo] of when she came over to my house of us holding my dogs,” he adds.
