For one worker, giving a bunch of decaf coffee to their coworkers is scratching an itch for payback. Why? They don’t quite say… but they allude to some interesting things in their confession.
People think that messing with someone’s caffeine consumption is harmless, but that’s not always the case. I don’t know about you, but a lot of us are pretty addicted to caffeine. I get a terrible headache if I don’t have some coffee by noon, and I’m sure a lot of workers feel the exact same way. It helps you wake up, start reading your emails or replying to coworkers’ Slack messages, and it’s just a delicious little treat to boost your personal morale. We ask for so little in this world, and boy do we get it! If we have to work 40+ hours per week, the least we can ask for is some coffee. It’s even better if your office provides it (and it’s good), but it’s even better when a coworker makes a Starbucks or Dunkin’ run and everyone gets to place their order. I think it’s kind of nice when that person comes back juggling a bunch of drinks, and everyone swarms around them to thank them and compare drink orders.
