For many kids, sleeping over at your bestie’s house over and over was a formative part of their childhood… but not everyone has the best sleepover experience ever!

Going to your best friend’s house on a Friday night for a slumber party was the best! It was always so fun to hang with your friend (or an entire group of kids) to watch movies, break out the sleeping bags, eat way too much junk food, and attempt to stay up as late as possible.

Sometimes I wish I could still have sleepovers with my friends — there’s absolutely nothing stopping me except that as an adult I want to sleep in my own bed, not my friends’ dog-hair-covered futon. I also want to go to sleep early, not stay up til 5 AM. Anyway. That’s why you do these things while you’re young! Playing Mario Kart until 4 AM while eating pizza your friend’s mom ordered for you is such a wonderful childhood experience. You don’t even need anything fancy — as long as you have your BFF and a cozy place to crash for the night, you’ll both have an excellent time.

However, there are a ton of ways that a sleepover can go wrong fast. For example, some people shared that they saw bugs in a friend’s home, and that made them hightail it out of there. Other families were weirdly stingy with their food, and wouldn’t let their hungry guest have anything to eat. I don’t know what’s up with that, but that was enough to make folks decide they’d never stay the night with that friend ever again.

Up next, read about the “entitled, selfish and bratty” woman who planned a wedding on the same day as her stepbrother, igniting a family feud: “She knows I don’t want to be her brother.”
