If you wore a shirt to your most recent job interview, you’re already doing better than some of the job candidates out there. That’s right — one dude showed up to a job interview sans shirt.
I know there are some industries where a casual approach is relatively acceptable — namely, those who are hiring chefs. If you get a resume from a chef where everything is misspelled, but they can clearly write what types of skills they have, they’ll probably still get the job. That’s the exception, though. For the most part, if you don’t stand out among the dozens of other applicants, you aren’t going to be getting a job offer any time soon.
Some people couldn’t take no for an answer. If you’re constantly bugging the interviewer for an answer, but you don’t like the answer, well, too bad – that’s the end of the road for you… unless you’re annoyingly persistent and keep bugging the interviewer for feedback or asking them to reconsider. Then, the only thing they’ll be reconsidering is how quickly to block your email address before hiring another more qualified candidate.
After that, read about this tacky girl’s night host who insisted on feeding the friend group frozen pizza, then bugging the girls for cash: “I’m wondering if I’m being petty… or if it was actually kind of tacky.”
