How did that one coworker in your office get fired? Well, it’s a long story…
Every workplace has that one absolute legend whose name is still whispered in the halls whenever the topic of firings comes up. They’re that one coworker who departed in the funniest, most dramatic way, and the incident still lives rent-free in everyone’s minds.
Some employees get to live the dream for a while before they’re kicked to the curb: they simply don’t do any work, all while clocking in and getting paid for a full 8-hour day. Sometimes they get away with this scheme for quite a while before anyone notices, depending on how crucial their job is and how high or low-touch it is.
Other workers break the rules from day 1, almost as if they’re trying to get fired! They’re told something like, “Under no circumstances should you ever take photos here at work,” and they take that as a sign to start taking selfies everywhere! One worker did just that, ignoring warnings from the boss, and sharing selfies on her public Facebook page. She was obviously fired, because you can’t just go around spilling company secrets left and right. I think some workers like to test the waters and see what they can get away with, but in situations like hers, I really don’t know what she could’ve expected.
Then there are workers who get fired over and over again in their careers because they simply can’t hold their tongues. This kind of person can be really fun to work with (for the short time frame they’re employed, anyway). Once they mouth off to the wrong person, be that the CEO, a client, or an irate customer, they’re finished. But in the meantime, it can be really fun to watch that person toe the line of just how sassy they can be with the customers!
No matter what the story is in your particular workplace, seeing that one person buck the rules and go out in a blaze of glory is pretty fun to watch. Check out a bunch of hilarious and inspiring tales below, and live vicariously through those outspoken few who faced the consequences of their workplace actions.
